Turn your town into a ‘Fair Trade Town’. By March 2005 there were 100 in the UK – the FairTrade Foundation has all the information.

Talk to your local shopkeeper – find out their name and what they do when they’re not behind the counter! See what ethical / fair-trade / environmentally-friendly products they stock, and encourage them by buying what they have, and suggesting where they could improve!

Find out who your local Councillors are. Talk to them about the local (and global) environmental issues that concern you.

Campaign to increase recycling facilities for your community.

Get involved in any building developments that are taking place locally. Push for them to be of the highest environmental standard (eco homes/ eco buildings).
